FAQ - Your local questions
Can you help my husband come home from Wexham Park?
Yes, and it is worth ringing before he is discharged rather than after. We take referrals straight from families, so there is no GP letter to obtain and no list to join. The hospital will have got him to a standard that works on a ward — level floors, handrails, staff within calling distance. Home is a different problem: his own stairs, the step at the door, the gap between the chair and the doorway. Tell us the discharge date and we will book the first visit into that first week back, which is when most ground is lost.
My mother has not been out of the house since Christmas. Nothing happened, she just stopped. Is that something you help with?
Yes, and it is one of the best reasons to ring. Stopping without an obvious cause is usually a series of small decisions rather than one event — the step looked icy, the walk seemed further than it used to, and after a few weeks not going out becomes the habit. The legs follow the habit within months. It responds well while it is still recent, and nothing needs to have gone wrong. We would work on the actual route she wants back, whether that is the post box, the church or the walk along the river.
My father's Parkinson's will only get worse. What is the point of physiotherapy?
The point is how well he lives on the way, and for how long. We will not tell you physiotherapy reverses Parkinson’s, because it does not. What it does is hold onto things that otherwise slip away quietly — the turn in a narrow hallway, getting out of a chair without three goes, walking through a doorway without freezing. Keeping something for another year is a genuine outcome rather than a consolation prize. It also tends to mean less help needed rather than more, which matters at home as much as it does on paper.
Do you cover Old Windsor, Datchet and Eton?
Yes — Old Windsor, Datchet, Eton, Eton Wick and out towards Ascot and Sunninghill. Windsor is our hub for this corner and the boundary is not a line drawn on a map. Being a few miles out makes no difference to how long we stay or what we work on, and it is often where the visit is worth most, because the alternative is a drive and a car park at the far end. If you are beyond the places named here, ring and ask rather than ruling yourself out.
My mother is intensely private and hates strangers in the house. What actually happens on a first visit?
Less than she fears. We are not there to take over her sitting room. The first visit is mostly conversation — what she used to do, what she has stopped doing, what she would like back — with enough hands-on assessment to see how she really moves and enough treatment that it does not feel like an hour of talking. She stays in charge of what happens and what does not. If at the end she would rather we did not come back, that is a legitimate answer, and we will tell you so plainly rather than keep turning up.
Can you work with the private carers we already employ?
Yes, and it usually makes both work better. We show the care team where the rehabilitation is hiding in what they already do — where a transfer can be practice rather than a lift, which part of the walk to the bathroom she should do herself, when to wait ten seconds rather than step in. It is never a criticism of anyone; helping in a way that quietly takes over is something all of us do with the best intentions. We leave the guidance in writing so it does not depend on who is on duty.
How will we know whether it is working?
Because we measure it and tell you. At the start we record how far he walks, how he gets out of a chair and what he manages without help, so progress is a fact rather than an impression. After visits you hear what has changed and what has not. And if the work stops making a difference, we will say so and stop rather than quietly carrying on because the appointments are in the diary. Being told honestly that something has gone as far as it will is worth more than being strung along.

Care homes in Windsor
Most of this work is arranged and paid for privately by families — a block of visits after a fall or a hospital stay, or ongoing work to keep someone moving. It sits alongside whatever the home already provides, and we work with their staff so the exercises carry on between our visits. You can read more about additional physiotherapy for residents.
