Heather
Chartered Physiotherapist
Qualification: BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy. HCPC registered.
Area covered: Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire (and Hampshire for care-home visits)
Heather is a chartered physiotherapist who specialises in the care of older people, with particular expertise in frailty, falls prevention and community rehabilitation. She is a member of AGILE, the professional network for chartered physiotherapists working with older people. A qualified personal trainer as well as a physiotherapist, Heather has a special interest in exercise prescription for older adults — and in strength training in particular, to help people maintain their muscle mass, mobility and independence as they age.
She brings nearly two decades of NHS experience, currently as a Band 7 Community Physiotherapist with the Wokingham Intermediate Care Team at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and previously as a clinical team lead in Surrey, where she led a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and rehabilitation assistants. Her community caseload has spanned orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory and falls conditions, often with complex needs, treating people both in their own homes and in care homes.
Alongside her home visits across Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, Heather provides regular physiotherapy at two care homes — Dashwood Manor in Basingstoke and Little Oaks in High Wycombe — and supports patients receiving , our live-in rehabilitation care through The Trusted Carer partnership.
“I’ve been passionate about working in the community and with older people since I qualified as a Physio. I really enjoy developing a rapport with patients and others involved in their care and like to set and work towards goals collaboratively in order to achieve what matters most to each patient I treat”.
Interesting fact:
Heather really enjoys a good challenge and counts climbing Kilimanjaro, trekking to Everest base camp, completing the Thames 100km and running 3 marathons as the best she has done…so far!
