Here is what our Leamington Spa patients are saying about us
The Caring Physio Team have been brilliant from the moment I contacted them in early February 2026, to see if they could work with my elderly father following several fractures to his spine and inlight of the NHS Physio stating “he’ll never walk again and will be bedridden.”
The Team were so positive and willing to see what could be achieved, as my father desperately wanted to be given the opportunity to walk again. Needless to say Jill was assigned to my father’s case and she was so understanding and positive from the outset, it was truly refreshing!
Over the weeks she used innovative ways to rehabilitate my father, who as a result can now walk with a zimmer frame, and has even managed to sit in the garden. Also, Jill was incredibly supportive of my Mum, having recognised the immense task she was undertaking as my father’s primary carer.

I contacted Caring Physio on discharge from hospital following heart surgery and had prompt and timely visits from Jill, who covers Leamington Spa. She gave me thoughtful and invaluable advice and much encouragement.

FAQ - Your local questions
My mother is on Feldon Ward at Leamington Spa Hospital after her stroke. What happens when she comes home?
That is the right moment to arrange something. Feldon Ward does focused stroke rehabilitation and people frequently come home still improving rather than finished — the fortnight afterwards with nothing happening is where ground gets lost. Ring us while she is still in, tell us roughly when she is due out, and we will pick up the goals her therapy team have been working towards rather than starting from scratch. We aim to get the first visit into that first week home rather than a fortnight later.
My father has stopped going to the bowls club. Nothing has happened to him. Is that a reason to ring?
Yes, and a better one than most people think. When somebody drops a fixed weekly thing they have always enjoyed, there is usually something unsaid behind it — the walk from the car, the getting down and up, the worry about needing the lavatory or holding people up. The outing goes first and the strength follows over the months after. Nothing needs to have gone wrong for it to be worth an hour, and getting that afternoon back is a better goal than any exercise we could invent.
My husband finished at the Central England Rehabilitation Unit. What happens after that?
Usually the hardest and least supported part, which is exactly where we come in. CERU does intensive neuro rehabilitation after a brain injury, and people leave having made real progress with a programme that then stops. What follows at home is slower and more specific: keeping what was gained, and working on the things a unit cannot rehearse — his own stairs, his own kitchen, the routes he actually wants to walk. We would ask what the team there were working towards and carry it on rather than begin again.
Do you visit Lillington, Whitnash and the villages around Leamington?
Yes — Lillington, Whitnash, Radford Semele, Cubbington and across to Warwick and Kenilworth. Leamington is our base for this part of Warwickshire and the boundary is not a hard line on a map. Where you live makes no difference to how long we stay or what we work on. If you are further out than the places named here, ring and ask rather than deciding for yourself that you are too far — we would much rather say yes than have somebody rule themselves out.
Will it be the same physiotherapist every time?
The same one wherever we possibly can, and it matters more than people expect. Progress carries forward between visits, nobody has to explain their history twice, and the small adjustments that make a programme work only happen when somebody already knows how last week went. It matters for trust too, particularly for someone who was reluctant to have anybody in the house at all. If her regular physiotherapist is away we will tell you in advance rather than send a stranger unannounced.
Her care home says they already provide physiotherapy. How would this be different?
Most homes around Leamington do good work keeping people moving and we are not a replacement for it. The difference is time and specificity: we come for a full session with one person and one set of goals — getting off that particular chair, managing that particular corridor — rather than fitting movement around a shift. We also show the care team what we are working on so it carries on between visits, which is where most of the gain actually happens. Homes often ring us themselves for exactly this reason.
How will we know whether it is actually working?
Because it is written down rather than felt. On the first visit we record the specific things that matter — the distance she can walk, whether she can rise from her chair unaided, what she manages without someone there — and those same things get checked again as we go. You hear what has moved and what has not, in plain terms. If the work stops producing change we will tell you and stop coming, rather than letting a standing appointment carry on under its own momentum.

Care homes in Royal Leamington Spa
Most of this work is arranged and paid for privately by families — a block of visits after a fall or a hospital stay, or ongoing work to keep someone moving. It sits alongside whatever the home already provides, and we work with their staff so the exercises carry on between our visits. You can read more about additional physiotherapy for residents.
